Terms of Service
Last updated: July 6, 2026Version 1.0
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Balkan Online School platform ("BOS", "the platform", "we", "us" or "our"). Balkan Online School is an online adaptive mathematics learning platform for primary-school children (grades 5–8) in Serbia, aligned with the MPN curriculum. A parent or guardian (an adult) opens the account and is responsible for the child profiles they create. Please read these terms carefully. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the platform.
Acceptance of these terms
By opening an account or using the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood and accept these Terms of Service.
The account is opened by a parent or guardian, who is an adult and is the account holder. The account holder is responsible for all child profiles created under their account and for all activity that takes place on those profiles.
These terms form an agreement between you as the account holder and the legal entity providing the service: [PRAVNO LICE / LEGAL ENTITY], with its registered address at [ADRESA / ADDRESS], registration number [MATIČNI BROJ / REG. NUMBER], tax ID [PIB / TAX ID].
Eligibility
Only an adult — a parent or guardian of the child — may open an account. By opening an account you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the child whose profile you create.
Children do not have their own accounts or email logins. A child accesses the platform solely through a profile created by the parent, within the parent's account.
Description of the service
The platform offers a Khan-style, on-demand library of mathematics lessons — available whenever the child wants to learn. The child opens a topic, watches a video explaining the concept, and works through practice problems at their own pace.
In addition, the platform supports parent-initiated guided sessions for targeted preparation (the parent picks a goal topic, the system runs a short screener, recommends backfill content, and guides the child through a session).
The first topic of each grade is free as a preview. The rest of the content is unlocked by an active subscription. There is no free trial.
Account and PIN responsibilities
When you open an account you provide an email address and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form and are never stored in plaintext. You verify your email address by clicking a confirmation link. We do not collect a phone number and do not send SMS messages.
You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, please notify us.
A child profile may have an optional short PIN (4–6 digits), which is stored in hashed form. The PIN is a convenience for separating profiles within a family, not an account-level security measure. As the parent, you manage the PINs and the child profiles.
Acceptable use
The platform is intended for personal, family and educational use. You agree to use the platform and its content in accordance with these terms and applicable law.
- You may not resell, rent or otherwise commercially exploit access to, or the content of, the platform.
- You may not share your login credentials with anyone outside your household or grant account access to third parties.
- You may not use automated tools to scrape, download or copy content beyond the scope of ordinary personal use.
- You may not attempt to bypass technical protection measures, disrupt the platform, or access parts of it you are not authorised to use.
Intellectual property
All content on the platform — including lessons, videos, texts, problems, design and software — is owned by BOS or used under appropriate licence, and is protected by intellectual property law.
For the duration of your account, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the content solely for personal, family and educational purposes. This licence does not include the right to reproduce, distribute, communicate to the public, or create derivative works beyond that scope.
Payments and subscription
Subscriptions are billed in euros (EUR) via Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record (Paddle.com Market Ltd). Paddle processes payments and handles VAT/sales tax.
We do not store payment-card data; it is tokenised by Paddle. There is no free trial.
Your subscription renews according to the plan you choose until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds are governed by our separate Refund Policy; requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Approved refunds are processed through Paddle as the Merchant of Record.
Disclaimers regarding outcomes
The platform is an educational tool. It helps a child learn and practise mathematics, but we do not guarantee any particular grades, exam results, or specific educational outcomes. Progress depends on many factors beyond our control.
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that the platform will operate without interruption or error.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the rights that belong to you as a consumer by law.
Changes to the service and the terms
We may improve, change or adapt the platform from time to time. We may also amend these terms where there is a legitimate reason to do so (for example, a change in law or in functionality).
We will notify you of material changes to the terms in an appropriate manner. Continued use of the platform after the changes take effect is treated as acceptance of the amended terms.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account in the event of a breach of these terms or applicable law, with reasonable notice where feasible.
On termination, we handle your data and your children's data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, including a retention period after which the data is permanently deleted.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Serbia.
We will seek to resolve any dispute amicably and in good faith. If that is not possible, the dispute will be resolved before the competent court in the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with applicable law, without prejudice to the rights guaranteed to you as a consumer by law.
